what camera would you recommend for a young film maker?
My parents are letting me get a new camera for the high school film fest. I am very interested in pursuing a career in film, and would like to start making semi-professional looking videos now. Thanks for your help!
it might be cheaper for them to buy you a car instead of professional video. you should be planning to go to college or at least community college to get training on media production. the school will have all the equipment needed to do class assignments. that way you can become familiar with how pro type cameras work, and give you a better idea as to what you really need.

Well, I have had Canon VIXIA HF M41 Full HD Camcorder now for a week and tested it in many lighting situations and locations and I must say I’m very impressed. Outside filming my niece and dogs in the yard the videos are crisp viewed on my 40" Sony HD LCD TV. I would give it a 5 out of 5. In my eyes, looks broadcast quality. Indoors with varying light was also impressive although I did notice a little graininess. I’d give low light a 4 star rating. Being as anal as I am, I did a little test. Take it for what it’s worth.
